Partners. He serves on the

and oversees relationships with
fund investors. In addition, he
serves as chairman of the board
and directors of several
portfolio companies.
Hulme retired as a senior partner at
McKinsey & Co. in 2008 after a 26
year career. He led several of
McKinsey’s global energy practices and
led the firm’s client relationships with
several leading energy companies. Hulme
also co–founded and co–led McKinsey’s
Global Corporate Finance Practice, which
established the firm’s M&A Advisory
and Private Equity Practices. He led
McKinsey’s Global Strategy Practice, and
he founded and led the firm’s Global
Risk Practice. In these roles, Hulme
advised dozens of the firm’s clients on
financial restructurings, operational
turnarounds, major M&A transactions,
and risk mitigation strategies across a
wide range of industries. Hulme was also
an active leader in McKinsey’s internal
governance as a member of the firm’s
eight person Office of the Managing
Director (OMD), which was responsible
for the overall management of McKinsey.
Hulme was the firm’s first Head of
Functional Practices (Operations,
Marketing, IT, Strategy, Organization,
Corporate Finance, and Risk), which grew
to employ approximately 20% of
McKinsey’s global consultants. He led
McKinsey’s Houston Office, and he served
as a member of the firm’s Shareholders
Council (McKinsey’s elected Board),
where he chaired one of its four policy
committees with oversight of global
knowledge development.
Hulme left McKinsey in 2008 to become
the Chief Executive Officer of Carlson
Capital, a multi strategy hedge fund
with approximately $5 billion of AUM and
$20 billion of gross market value. Hulme
was also Head of Energy at Carlson
Capital, overseeing a portfolio with
approximately $2 billion gross market
value of energy investments in public
equities, credit, and private equity.
In 2011, Hulme left Carlson Capital to
found and serve as CEO of Parallel
Resource Partners, an energy focused
private equity firm jointly sponsored by
Carlson and Bluescape Resources.
Parallel raised an institutional fund in
2012 and Hulme continues to manage the
fund’s portfolio of upstream energy
assets. In 2016, Hulme also became CEO
of Bluescape Energy Partners, a
successor institutional private equity
firm that invests in both upstream
energy and electric power.
Hulme earned a Bachelor’s in Business
Administration from The University of
Texas, where he graduated first in his
class, and a Master’s in Business
Administration from the Stanford
